How the minutes work

1,200 minutes of dictation a month on every term. About 20 hours of talking, which at three sentences a dictation is more than most people say into a keyboard in a month.

You pay for the minutes you actually dictate. Failed dictations and silence are free. The allowance resets each month and does not roll over.

You pay for what landed.

What you get to keep

Your number is yours from the first dictation.

The counter, the running total and the streak are part of every dictation, including the 5 you try first. A number about yourself is the only kind anyone repeats.

Is a card needed to start
No. Download, sign in, and your first 5 dictations are on us. A card is asked for only when you subscribe.
Which term should I pick
Annual, if you write for a living: $96 once, $8 a month, $48 less than paying monthly. Monthly, if you want to see a full month first. You can switch terms from inside the app.
Can I subscribe from the EU
Not yet. Roar isn't selling into the EU at launch. When you subscribe from the EU you'll be offered a waiting list instead.
What counts as one dictation
One press and release of the key, up to ten minutes.
What happens after my fifth dictation
Roar asks you to subscribe, from inside the app. Nothing is charged until you do.
Do unused minutes roll over
No. The allowance resets each month.
What happens at minute 1,201
The dictation that crosses the line is still typed. After that, Roar waits for your next month to begin.
Can my firm or newsroom buy it for six of us
Each of you downloads it and each subscribes. Accounts are individual; there's no team plan and nothing to administer.
